A motorist has been treated for shock after a train hit her car at a level crossing.
The accident happened at about 8pm at Kelly's Crossing in Birdhill in Co Tipperary.
Irish Rail and the Rail Accident Investigation Unit have launched separate inquiries.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, was in her car on her own at the time of the collision. She was taken to the hospital in Limerick as a precaution.
Eight passengers, the train driver and a ticket collector were on the train, which was travelling from Ballybrophy to Limerick.
No one was injured and they were bussed to their destination.
Irish Rail said the regional line will reopen for services in the morning.
