Woman killed after being hit by car

The woman, 30, was killed in an accident on the southbound side of the main Dublin Road into Balbriggan

A woman in her 30s has been killed after being hit by a car as she walked with a child.

The accident happened on the southbound side of the main Dublin Road into Balbriggan at about 12.30pm this afternoon.

The child who was with the dead woman was injured and taken to Temple Street Hospital in the city.

Gardai said they are investigating the crash and the road has been closed to allow for technical examinations of the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to Beaumont Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
