Woman killed on Dublin train line

Intercity services operating to and from Heuston station have been severely disrupted

A woman has been killed on a train line near Dublin.

She was struck and fatally injured between Adamstown and Hazelhatch shortly after midnight, an Iarnrod Eireann spokesman said.

Intercity services operating to and from Heuston station have been severely disrupted, with bus transfers operating.

A spokesman for the train service said: "Due to a person being struck and fatally injured on the line between Adamstown and Hazelhatch, Intercity services operating to/from Heuston are subject to disruption this morning while emergency services attend the scene."

Some services will not operate and delays are expected throughout the morning.

The train company said the incident took place at 12.20am, 500 yards south of Adamstown station, when the woman was struck on the line by an out of service commuter train returning to Heuston Station.

The emergency services attended the scene, and the line remained closed while gardai carried out investigations.
