Ulster's Big Brother contestant Seany O'Kane was on the front line recently as celebrity guest at Manchester Pride 2007.
The 25-year-old Derryman, who shared a kiss with Greek housemate Gerry on the reality TV show, was asked to lead the Lesbian and Gay Foundation float on Saturday.
And, for the first time in the 17 years since the Foundation has been participating in the Pride festival, the float won an award for best contribution.
"I was the celebrity guest who fronted the parade and led the march," Seany told the Belfast Telegraph last night.
"It was a complete honour. There were thousands of people taking part. The organisers gave me a placard about suicide to hold because this year the campaign was to raise the issues of the gay community. It's about ending homophobia." He added: "Suicide is a problem in the gay community. That's why the issue needs to be raised."
Seany, a Manchester-based charity worker, also said he was due to compere yesterday for the Big Weekend's musical finale.
