The Truth in Translation Project is a dramatised retelling of the historic Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which was held in South Africa following the collapse of Apartheid.

The story is told through the eyes and ears of the young interpreters who translated the proceedings in the 11 different languages of the country. It will be performed at the Lyric Theatre this October as part of the Belfast Festival at Queen's.

"It is a marvellous and powerful exploration into events that transformed South Africa," said Archbishop Tutu, who visited Belfast this week to receive honorary degrees from Queen's University and the University of Ulster.

"It conveys our hope and confidence in the future with truth and understanding, compassion and humour. If our story has a message of hope for others beyond our borders, if what happened in South Africa can inspire others who are struggling with atrocities of the past to find their way peacefully into the future, then it is of vital importance that our story be told.

"It is with the greatest enthusiasm that I endorse this work and I urge the people of Northern Ireland to witness it, to understand it, and to enjoy it."
