Security has been stepped up around Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams after a death threat.

The PSNI has told Mr Adams that the threat level against him is “very high”.

“We are taking these threats very seriously,” a Sinn Fein spokesman said in a statement yesterday.

“However, these death threats will not distract the party or the party president from carrying out their responsibilities and seeking to advance the peace process.”

it won't be long before there is a political crisis - guaranteed !

i suspect around autumn time a major event will take place and we'll all be back to pre 1995.......

thats N.I - one step forward and thirty backwards.............

Liam, I do not assume anything. If you read elsewhere in the BT you will see that the Orange Volunteers are clearly mentioned.
You are also correct in that dissident republicans could also have made threats but these,as yet, have not been clearly defined.

liam, I have read HC's post and it does not mention the word "Unionist" once. HC refers to people who are supposed to have decommissioned. Since both Republicans and Loyalists are supposed to have decommissioned, I fail to see where you came to the conclusion that HC meant that it was "Unionists" who were behind this threat.

Personally, I think it is a bunch of kids on the dole; with nothing better to do than get kicks out of seeing their threats in the news.

hc you assume these threats come from unionists, mr adams himself would acknowledge they could just as well come from dissident republicans, in fact more likely.

These death threats are by people who have decommissioned?
I would imagine that an attempt on Mr.Adams life would bring about a massive retaliation and welcome in another few decades of Troubles.
Some people never learn, it would appear.
Then again, we are talking NI and some people never learn.

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
