Spurs star Defoe ‘to dodge’ speed ban
Saturday, 27 June 2009
England footballer Jermain Defoe’s sentencing for speeding has been put off as his lawyer predicted he would get the conviction thrown out on a technicality.
Defoe (26) was due to be sentenced yesterday but the case was adjourned to July 10. He was not in court
Afterwards, his lawyer Nick Freeman, who earned the nickname ‘Mr Loophole’ after successfully defending stars such as David Beckham and Jeremy Clarkson, said: “I anticipate the proceedings will be set aside.”
