Teenager critical after assault in west Belfast

A teenager is critically ill in hospital after being viciously assaulted.
The 19-year-old was found lying in the street in the Mount Alverno area of the Springfield Road, west Belfast, in the early hours of Friday morning, police revealed today.
Emergency services called to the scene found the teenager suffering from head injuries and took him to hospital where he was reported to be in a critical but stable condition.
Police said they were working to establish a motive for the assault and appealed for anyone who was in the area at around 2.30am on Friday and saw anything suspicious to contact them.
