Three Islamic extremists found guilty of airline bombing plot

Monday, 8 September 2008

Three Islamic extremists have been found guilty of plotting to kill hundreds of people in a terrorist bombing campaign in the UK.

27-year-old Abdulla Ahmed Ali was the leader of an east London al Qaida-inspired terror cell.

The jury also found two other men, Assad Sarwar and Tanvir Hussain, guilty of conspiracy to murder.

No verdict could be reached regarding four other defendants accused of targeting transatlantic planes.

An eighth man, Mohammed Gulzar, was found not guilty on all counts.
