Hi °C | Lo °C A youth who mugged an 81-year-old children's writer could be as young as 15, police said.
Jean Adamson - author of the Topsy and Tim series - was left with a broken arm when attacked while walking near her home in Stretham, Cambs, on Sunday.
Police said the mugger snatched Mrs Adamson's bag and pulled her along the street until she let go.
A spokeswoman said the attacker was thought to be aged between 15 and 17.
"From the description he could be as young as 15," said the spokeswoman. "We think he lives locally and are hopeful that someone will come forward with information."
She said Mrs Adamson needed hospital treatment and was recovering at home.
