Three people, including a 76-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was discovered by police.
Police officers attended an address in Elswick, Newcastle, on Saturday afternoon after they received a report of concern for a man.
There, officers from Northumbria Police discovered the body of a man believed to be in his 60s.
As a result three people, a 43-year-old woman and two men aged 53 and 76, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody.
The cause of death has yet to be established and a Home Office post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the death and police are appealing for information about the incident.
