Singing sensation Susan Boyle is to celebrate her 50th birthday with a party for close family and friends near her home.
Hundreds of fans from around the world have sent birthday greetings via the Britain's Got Talent star's website and Facebook page.
Talent show judge Simon Cowell has also sent his best wishes to an "amazing lady".
The Scot was catapulted from obscurity to global stardom after appearing on the 2009 Britain's Got Talent contest.
The singer, from Blackburn, West Lothian, became an international star after her performance of I Dreamed A Dream from the musical Les Miserables stunned the audience and judges on the ITV1 show.
The singer is taking her birthday in her stride.
She said: "I'm looking forward to turning 50, there's not much I can do about it but I'm happy to be reaching this birthday. I guess I'm living proof that none of us know what's around the corner and while I may have started a little late I really hope I can be around for a wee while longer!
"I've had some wonderful moments throughout my life especially over the past two years and I would like to thank everyone for their kindness and encouragement, I wouldn't be here without it and I appreciate it every single day."
The star has just started recording her third album.
A devout Roman Catholic, she fulfilled one of her biggest dreams last year by performing for Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Britain.
