The BBC's coverage of the Boat Race is being investigated by communications watchdog Ofcom after complaints about bad language.

Viewers, who tuned in to watch Oxford win last month's race, heard the team's cox Oskar Zorrilla swear as he encouraged his rowers.

The BBC apologised at the time for his use of the word "f***" which was picked up by a microphone he was wearing.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "BBC Sport take such matters very seriously and the production team had spoken with both coxes beforehand to emphasise that they should not swear.

"We will be looking at ways to ensure we can avoid a repetition of these incidents."
