Criminal fails to return to prison

Police want to trace a man who has failed to return after getting leave from prison

A criminal has failed to return to an open prison after being given leave.

Police are appealing for help tracing Leon Brown, who was serving a six-and-a-half year sentence for firearms offences at Hollesley Bay in Suffolk.

He was given leave to go to an address in South Ockendon, Essex, on Monday and was due to return by 3.30pm today.

But Suffolk Police said: "He failed to show up and was reported as missing to the police."

Brown, 34, is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, with black hair, brown eyes, and is clean shaven. He has connections to the Tottenham area of north London.

Police said anyone who may have seen him or have information on his whereabouts should contact officers.

They added: "You should not approach him or take any further action."
