The devastated children of a couple murdered at their home have made a desperate plea for help in finding their parents' killers, saying the light had been "switched out" in their lives.
Michelle Kirwan (39) and her brother Avtar Kolar (32) held hands and sobbed yesterday as they gave an emotional Press conference, telling gathered reporters that their hearts had been "broken forever".
Avtar Singh-Kolar (62) and his wife Carole (58) were found dead at their home in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham, on Wednesday. The bodies of the couple, who have four children, were discovered at the semi-detached property in Friary Road by their son Jason Kolar, a police officer.
He had gone to the house to check on them after family members had been unable to make contact.
Mrs Kirwan was visibly shaking and at times inaudible as she described the family's anguish.
She said: "Yesterday the light was switched out in our lives and our hearts have been broken forever."
