Former world champion boxer Herbie Hide has appeared in court accused of conspiring to supply cocaine after being charged following a newspaper investigation.
Hide, 41, of Long Lane, Bawburgh, near Norwich, is alleged to have committed the offence between January 29 and February 2.
He appeared at Norwich Crown Court wearing a grey tracksuit but did not enter a plea.
The court heard the charges relate to an allegation that Hide and another man, Ben Sharman, agreed to supply £400 worth of cocaine to a journalist from The Sun.
Sharman, 22, of Howe Lane, Poringland, near Norwich, has also been charged with conspiracy to supply the Class A drug.
His barrister, Claire Matthews, requested more time for her client to consider his case.
The case was adjourned until July 11. Sharman was remanded in custody while Hide was released on unconditional bail.
Hide held the World Boxing Organisation version of the heavyweight title twice.
