Gangnam Style star arrives in UK

Chart-topper Psy signs an autograph as he arrives at St Pancras station in London

Gangnam Style rapper Psy was mobbed by screaming fans as he arrived in the UK.

The 34-year-old travelled to London from Paris by Eurostar and said he was visiting the UK for three days.

Psy, whose full name is Park Jae-sang, stopped briefly to pose for photographers at St Pancras station in a cream leather sleeveless jacket and yellow-rimmed glasses.

He said it was "really exciting" to be in the UK and "a great feeling" to be greeted by so many people.

The South Korean musician became a worldwide sensation when his humorous single Gangnam Style shot to number one in the UK in September. He is already an established star in his home country having released six albums and is the first South Korean to make it to number one in the UK.

The music video has attracted more than 660 million online views and 4.5 million "likes" since it was released. It is the second most watched YouTube video in history and shows Psy making fun of the extravagant lifestyle of the residents of Gangnam, a neighbourhood where he grew up in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

Later, Psy will deliver his first public speech in English to the Oxford Union and follow in the footsteps of high-profile politicians, actors and musicians who have spoken there before. A spokesman from Oxford Union said Psy will be the first east Asian pop star to address the historic organisation.

He said: "He was invited by the Union's first South Korean and east Asian president, John Seung-yoon Lee. The president and Psy are both from Gangnam - the area where the eponymous hit song takes its name."

When Psy was asked about the release of his next song, rumoured to have a mix of Korean and English lyrics, he said: "I'm working on it." He said he will be appearing on a number of TV shows over the next few days and will be doing "a lot" of interviews.

Since Psy's hit went viral last month, celebrities, Eton students and even royalty have copied his style. Zara Philips and her British eventing team-mates have performed a rousing rendition of the song for Children In Need. The video is to be released to the public on Monday.
