An 11-year-old girl has died in hospital after falling around 15ft (4.5m) from a cliff, police said.
Officers were called to the beach at Perranporth, Cornwall, at around 1.15pm to find the child had slipped through a gap in a cliff into a water-filled cave.
The girl, who was on holiday with her family from Hampshire, was airlifted to Treliske Hospital in a critical condition but died, a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said.
She was believed to have fallen as she climbed cliffs around a rock pool near the Droskyn Point car park.
Beach lifeguards and the St Agnes Coastguard rescue team also attended the incident, which is not being treated as suspicious.
