Girl suffers fatal cardiac arrest

A teenage girl died after suffering a cardiac arrest at South Oxford Community Centre

Police are treating the death of a teenage girl who died after suffering a cardiac arrest at a community centre as unexplained.

Thames Valley Police said they were called by South Central Ambulance Service to come to South Oxford Community Centre in Lake Street, Oxford, at 1.25pm on Saturday.

Officers attended the scene and the girl was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, but later died.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation is under way.

Police said officers are in the process of informing the girl's next of kin.

A spokeswoman for the South Central Ambulance Service said they received a call from a member of the public at about 1.17pm to report a teenage girl in cardiac arrest.

She said a helicopter, an ambulance crew, a paramedic, an officer and an air ambulance were sent to the scene.
