A killer driver who mowed down a pedestrian after taking “no action whatsoever” when he crossed the road in front of his 4x4 is facing jail.
Student Muhammed Laher (21) was at the wheel of a Honda HRV which ploughed in to 51-year-old Brendan McGill on Boxing Day 2009.
The Belfast-born father-of-two had been walking to a shop to buy drinks for a party at his home, and was pronounced dead at the scene outside Brixton police station in south London.
A nurse from the station and officers were on the scene within seconds but Mr McGill could not be helped.
No-one witnessed the accident and there was no CCTV.
Laher and his brother Azher (20) were due to stand trial this week for causing death by dangerous driving, suspected of racing each other in separate cars before the smash.
But the younger sibling was cleared after prosecutors accepted his brother’s plea to a lesser charge of causing death by careless driving.
