Pixie Lott will help pick out three teenage heroes who will be recognised at a BBC Radio 1 awards ceremony.
The star will sit on the judging panel which will choose the heroic trio from nominations put forward by the station's listeners.
She will also perform at the Teen Awards at Wembley Arena in London on Sunday, October 9.
Lott said she got involved after presenting an award at last year's ceremony.
She said: "I presented an award at the first Teen Awards last year and was moved by the stories I heard of some truly outstanding young people. I'm thrilled to be not just performing at this year's event but also getting involved in selecting this year's Teen Heroes."
The station has also commissioned pollsters YouGov to examine attitudes and opinions of young people in the UK today with the results being discussed at London's City Hall on Tuesday September 13.
Radio 1 acting controller Ben Cooper said the awards were "an incredibly important event" for the station.
He said: "This year, ahead of the event, we've invited young people, politicians and youth organisations to get involved in Radio 1's Big Conversation, which will reflect their hopes and fears for the future before we celebrate the good work so many of them do in our communities at the awards ceremony in October."
