A seven-year-old girl and a man aged 49 have died following a house fire.
A 10-year-old girl remains in a critical condition after the blaze in Hawthorn Road, Redcar, Teesside, which started just after 11pm on Monday.
Cleveland Police, who are appealing for witnesses, said neither victim will be named until relatives have been informed.
The girls and the man were taken to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, for treatment.
The 10-year-old was later transferred to a hospital in Hull.
Cleveland Police said the man and girls were inside the house at the time of the fire.
The three people caught in the fire were related.
The girls' mother lived with them but was not in at the time.
Early indications are understood to point to the fire being started deliberately.
