A man who was found inside a bin lorry on Merseyside is being treated in hospital.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to Marion Street, Birkenhead, at around 5.30am on Saturday to reports that a man had been found trapped in the back of wagon.
A spokesman said crews stood by while the driver raised the rear compartment and released the man.
The spokesman said it is thought the man had been in a bin and had then "ended up" in the back of the wagon.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment to a possible broken leg and puncture wounds.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
It is not clear how the man ended up in the wagon or how he sustained his injuries.
