Man in court over car on Snowdon

Walkers at the summit of Mount Snowdon make their way past a car covered in tarpaulin

A man will appear in court charged with abandoning a 4x4 vehicle near the summit of Mount Snowdon.

The Vauxhall Frontera was discovered close to the 3,560ft peak in North Wales on September 3.

The vehicle's owner, Craig Anthony Williams, 39, from Cheltenham, was charged with dangerous driving and is due to appear before Caernarfon magistrates.

The same vehicle was discovered parked near the summit for a second time last Thursday.

A 39-year-old man, who has not been named, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing criminal damage and bailed pending further inquiries.

The car was removed from the mountain over the weekend, North Wales Police said.
