A 73-year-old man has died while cutting down trees in Luton

A pensioner has died while cutting down trees, police have said.

The 73-year-old is believed to have been hit by a falling tree on Wednesday afternoon in Luton.

A Bedfordshire Police spokeswoman said: "Bedfordshire Police can confirm an elderly man has died while cutting down trees in a wooded area in Luton.

"Officers were called at 12.45pm today by the ambulance service to Rotten Corner, a green space between Sundon Park Road and Marsh Farm where the 73-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed.

"The man will not be identified until an inquest into his death is opened by Her Majesty's Coroner."
