The deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies were discovered inside a house are being treated as suspicious, police have said.

Staffordshire Police said the bodies were found at about 12.50pm on Monday at an address in Ness Grove, Cheadle, which has now been sealed off.

A police spokesman said an investigation into the incident was now under way and forensic examinations were being conducted at the scene.

The spokesman said: "Officers were called to the property at approximately 12.50pm after two bodies had been found inside, those of an adult male and an adult female.

"At this stage the deaths are being treated as suspicious and the property has been cordoned off.

"A detailed forensic examination of the scene is under way and police will be carrying out house-to-house inquiries."

Anyone with information which could assist the inquiry is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on the non-emergency 101 number.
