Former I'm A Celebrity contestant Aggro Santos has denied raping two young women he took back to hotel rooms after performing at gigs.
Brazilian-born rapper Santos, 23, is accused of forcing one of the alleged victims to have sex with him after he appeared at the opening of Club Soho in Yeovil, Somerset, on September 25, 2010. He is also accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in May last year after the University of Chichester summer ball while friend and co-defendant Tyrelle Ritchie, 22, allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Santos told Chichester Crown Court that in the Somerset incident he had invited the alleged victim and her friend back to the Yeovil Court Hotel. He described how he went with one woman to his room while the alleged victim went with Santos' booking agent, Josh Byron, to his room.
The rapper said that after he had consensual sex with his companion, he suggested they go into the other room. He told the court: "We decided to go next door into Josh's room. We imagined that they were having sex, we all thought it was funny to embarrass them and tease them, a bit of a joke."
He described how they entered the room where he saw the victim, who was undressed in the bed, quickly wrap a sheet around herself. He said: "Everyone was laughing at that stage when we came in. She was laughing, saying 'What are you guys doing?' in a laughing manner. I knelt down on the edge of the bed and I said 'Why don't we all get into bed?' I said it joking."
Santos described how he straddled the alleged victim on the bed, his knees either side of her legs and he was "humping the air" but did not touch her. The victim has alleged that Santos forced her legs apart before raping her. He said he heard "sex noises" coming from the other room and after about 10 minutes the alleged victim knocked on his door and an argument ensued. He said the alleged victim was angry with him because he had sex with her friend despite her warning him earlier that she was going out with her brother.
In the second incident, which happened in Chichester, West Sussex, on May 7 last year, Santos had performed at the summer ball when he invited the alleged victim, her sister, who was a student at the university, and two friends back to his hotel.
Santos told the court how he went to his room with the girl, who had told him she was 19, and had consensual sex with her. They were then joined in the room by Ritchie and her sister. He said: "I noticed they were getting all flirty so I said why don't we give them some privacy and we went into the en-suite bathroom."
He said that after he heard Ritchie and the sister leave the room, he returned to the bedroom and had consensual sex with the alleged victim for the second time. Santos told the court that while they were having sex, Ritchie came back into the room and asked the alleged victim for oral sex. He said she did this while continuing to have sex with him. He said it was a short while later that the victim's sister came to the room, screaming and shouting, accusing the two defendants or raping her sister.
Santos, who is charged under his real name Yuri Santos, of Bickersteth Road, Tooting, south-west London, denies two counts of rape. Ritchie, of Vauxhall Street, Lambeth, south-east London, denies one count of oral rape. The trial continues.
