A teenager has been stabbed on a bus in front of passengers in south London, police said

A teenager has been stabbed on a bus in front of passengers in south London, police said.

Officers were alerted at approximately 2.40pm on Friday following reports of a stabbed male on the number 93 bus in Merton Road, south Wimbledon.

It is believed the suspect chased the vehicle along Merton Road, then forced his way onto the bus, stabbing the victim, who was a passenger, in front of members of the public.

The victim, in his late teens, was taken to a south London hospital suffering from stab wounds, though his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

Officers are treating the incident as a targeted attack. Witnesses are asked to call CID at Wimbledon on 020 8649 3137 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
