Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with the death of a man who was fatally injured at a New Year's Eve party.
The 42-year-old man, who has not been identified, was assaulted at a party being held at his partner's house in Helmsley Close, in Hockwell Ring, Luton, in the early hours of the morning.
Police and an ambulance were called to the property just after 3am but the victim could not be saved and died a short time later of his injuries.
Detectives from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have arrested a teenage girl and boy on suspicion of being concerned in the death, a force spokeswoman said.
Officers have not released their exact ages and both are being held at Luton police station.
The spokeswoman added: "The victim was at the party at his partner's house, which was also attended by a number of youngsters when the incident occurred. Inquiries continue to establish what the altercation was about and what led to the victim receiving fatal injuries."
No further details concerning the nature of the man's injuries have yet been released and a post-mortem examination will be carried out on Monday to establish the cause of death.
Police said he will not be named until the examination has concluded and his next of kin have been informed.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident and would like to speak to anyone who was at the party and may have information about what happened. House-to-house inquiries have also been carried out.
