Video: Bee gives high-five to drunk man

Two of the UK's 25 bumblebee species have become extinct and a further eight have seen significant declines since 1940

A video of a seemingly inebriated man getting a high-five from a Bumble Bee has gone viral on YouTube, racking up over seven million views.

The story surrounding the video (below) is unclear but on the clip voices can be heard asking whether the insect is still alive.

After a couple of gentle prods the bee appears to high-five the man, delighting the watching audience.

Don't worry, bee happy?

The seemingly good nature of the bee high-five has been questioned by some less than charitable commenters with some suggesting the bee was adopting the raised-leg position because it was threatened.

Decline

Many species of bee and other pollinating insects including butterflies, moths and hoverflies have experienced declines in recent decades, raising concerns about the impacts on food supplies, gardens and the countryside.

Factors including use of pesticides, loss of habitat and more intensive agriculture are thought to be to blame.
