Webpage supports loyalist mob murder of Catholic
Friday, 29 May 2009
There were calls last night for a Bebo webpage which supported the killers of Kevin McDaid to be removed from the internet.
The page had been dedicated to the Coleraine-based Pride of the Bann flute band — who have now called on the page designers to take it down.
The easily accessible website, which can be set up and added to by anyone, contains offensive messages praising the loyalist mob who battered the Catholic community worker to death last Sunday.
The website, which has 119 fans, also contains photographs and video footage of the Pride of the Bann on parade.
In a statement, Pride of the Bann said its members were distancing themselves from the incident and political repercussions. But messages left on the Bebo site have shocked the community.
One read: “Well done lads!! respect what happened on sunday but maintain ur faith. proper order!!”
Another noted: “Pride of the band are we were not scared of the ruc.. we'll show use wot we can do.”
The latest Bebo message, referred to tonight’s parade.
It called for calm, saying: “keep friday peaceful, victory will be yours at the end of the night!! hope its a good one .... no surrender!! one highway... we shall walk!!”
A spokesman for Pride of the Bann Flute Band said: “Pride of the Bann Flute Band Coleraine, have no site on Bebo.
“If there is a site claiming to be Pride of the Bann, band leaders have asked that whoever set this site up to remove it immediately.”

What are you as a People doing to stop this?
Is it not time for you all to join up together and march as One to send a clear message out to the Neanderthal?
Ghandi and Spain lead the way on the bravest and most effective approach to such inhumanties, can Ulster follow in their footsteps?

These vermin are not Protestant. They are a low-life type of creature who are a curse on all the people of Ireland. Loyal to murder, evil and downright satanism. It is time that the good and decent Protestant people of the north of Ireland ,stood up to these agents of Satan. Stand now, before these animals drag us all over the precipice.

The "brave" "men" who did what they diddo not represent the PROTESTANT faith nor LOYALISM...they are THE SCUM OF THE EARTH. I am a Protestant and loyal to my Queen & country

What can i say that has not been said before,a sad place indeed.I was born in Belfast 1953 left because of the Trouble's as they were called in 1974.I do think it is now just out and out thugs and bullies who in another country would be punished i think to a more severe punishment than whats seems to be the case in Northern Ireland.I personal hated leaving my home land now i only go back because of family. As my father used to say the place is full of saddness.

It now has 127 fans. Must be the definition of jumping on the bandwagon!

The band says that it has nothing to do with the site. How many of the "fans" are band members? Are they investigating this? Will they expel any who are found to have been fans?
Shocked, I'm well aware that there are more than 119 protestants in NI, in Coleraine even. Nowhere do I generalise in that way. I just think it's a heck of a lot of sickos. A single fan for a site such as this would be 1 too many.

''It lets the world see what Catholics are up against in this poison pimple called 'Northern Ireland'.''
Silly Billy your attitude betrays what all of us in NI are up against. Effectively seeking to demonise one section of our society through the actions of a handful of sub human thugs.
The thugs who did this have the same level of vile support that those who perpetrated the recent CIRA/RIRA killings have in their own communities.
Point scoring in this instance is nothing short of pathetic

This is a sad and embarrasing portrayal of Northern Ireland. I live among people in Canada who barely know where Ireland is on the map - yet they are questioning the continuing atrocities being committed in the name of - what? Religion, Politics? I don't believe the perpetrators themselves know what they are about. Alcohol and moronic tendencies don't mix well. Please, please assure us all that these idiots will be made to pay dearly for their crime of murder. Our sympathies to the family.

When will this small % of my fellow irishmen see that peace is the ONLY way forward, don't join the 001% ! walk and work freely with the 99.999% and live in the peace that so many deaths on both sides over the last 35 years has earned for us all.

As someone who grew up in belfast and all that goes with it, it just makes me sad that politics and religion and simple thuggery get mixed up. What happened is a bunch of thugs who don't really represent anyone killed an innocent man. I hope all those responsible go down for a long time. By the way I was brought up as a Protestant in Belfast in the 70's and 80's. Dont associate me with this Scum..

Even though there has been a ceasefire and a sort of peace since 1998, Northern Ireland still repells me and nothing but nothing would entice me to go back. There is a deep well of hateful evil sectaranism ever bubbling below the surface ready to explode. I know a lot has been achieved and there are a lot of good people on both sides, but the horrible divisions and peacelines and barriers are still in too many peoples minds. Northern Ireland still presents a sorry ugly picture to the world.

They talk about the Taliban in Afghanistan? Welcome to N. Ireland's own version of the Taliban - the people who murdered that innocent man in Coleraine the other night! As backward as they come. Congratulations! You just let those other morons of dissident republicanism off the hook. You deserve each other.

This is absolutely disgusting!

By Mickey saying they should be 'named and shamed' would be intrepreted by me as he he thinks these vile little idiots have done something shameful. which they have.
I hate to use the word 'sides' as quite frankly it is rather riddiculous and pathetic (if it wasnt so serious and often sadly deadly) but maybe there was no need to point out that certain people from the republican 'side' have done similar.
All in all though I dont think he deserves being 'jumped on' (as it were) for his comments.

Indeed Mickey what other source of amusement would we get on this site if you didnt post your ridiculous comments? You are the Tele's own Comical Ali!
