Woman's hair set alight on train - boy charged

A teenager has been charged with endangering safety on the railway after a woman's hair was set on fire on a train, police said today.

A British Transport Police spokesman said a 15-year-old, from Swanley, Kent, was charged following an incident on July 19 on board a train between Hastings and London Victoria when a Swedish tourist's hair was set alight.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Hastings Youth Court on Friday, October 2.

Two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, all from Swanley, who were also arrested in connection with the incident are due to answer police bail on Tuesday, September 29.
