A 25-year-old Belfast man faces being jailed next month for possessing hundreds of pictures and movie clips of child pornography found on his computers in May last year.
James Russell Whiteside, from Belmont Church Road, pleaded guilty to a total of 20 charges of either making or possessing child pornography with a view of distributing it, either by himself or others.
No details surrounding the charges were given to Belfast Crown Court. However, it is understood that a vast number of the images are in category four and five.
These images, regarded as some of the worst, have been known to depict scenes of incest and child rape.
Whiteside, who was released on continuing bail, will be sentenced late next month once social inquiry reports on him have been compiled.
