Man ‘threatened to kill ex-partner and her dad’
A man threatened to kill his former partner, burn down her home and slit her father's throat, the High Court has heard.
Prosecutors said Charles McDonagh allegedly went up to the victim's window armed with a hammer and said: “Your dad's a dead man walking — I will cut him from ear to ear.”
The 32-year-old also made further threats to police officers forced to restrain him during arrest, it was claimed.
Mr McDonagh, of Dingwell Park, Lurgan, Co Armagh, faces charges of threatening to kill and damage property and possession of an offensive weapon.
His bail application was denied after a judge stressed the alleged victims must have protection.
Crown counsel Kate McKay said Mr McDonagh was arrested last December following an incident at his former partner's address in Lurgan.
The court heard the woman claimed to be afraid for her safety because he allegedly warned her: “I'm going to kill you and burn down your house.”
