Mother charged with neglect over baby's death

Published 13/11/2009

A mother whose baby son died was last night charged with neglect.

Tracey Sutherland, 39, was charged two days after Alexander, 13 months, was pronounced dead by medics.

It is understood she called the emergency services shortly before 7am on Tuesday and informed them her son had been dead in the house for two days but she could not bear to part with him.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Wednesday was inconclusive and the cause of his death is unknown.

Sutherland, of Porlock Road, Baguley, Manchester, is due before Manchester Magistrates' Court today.
