Scott Ritchie, who today announces his purchase of Connect Telecom in Belfast, is no stranger to big-money corporate deals.

No purchase price has been disclosed for the sale by brothers Robin and Matthew Brown, but it is believed to be worth millions of pounds.

The east Belfast man, a past pupil of both Campbell College and Ballymena Academy, started his first company at the age of 21.

And he went on to sell The Event Management Company to the Pearson Group in 2000, in a multi-million pound deal.

According to Mr Ritchie's LinkedIn entry, in addition to his interest in Connect Telecom, he is also a director in Fasthouse Global Ltd, which carries out off-site builds of accommodation for workers. That company operates in Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and in north and west Africa.

He is a former director in BT and has invested in other IT and telecoms firms, describing himself as "a multi-disciplined business professional".
