New suspected FMD case detected in Surrey

Published 18/09/2007 | 09:07

More animals are being slaughtered in England today following a new suspected case of foot-and-mouth disease in Surrey.

The affected livestock are on a sheep farm within the protection zone set up following last week's outbreak in the area.

That outbreak, along with two previous cases in Surrey in July and August, have all been linked to the nearby animal health laboratory in Pirbright, where foot-and-mouth vaccines are manufactured.
