Foyle: Veteran activist McCann reaches promised land
The election of veteran political activist and campaigner Eamonn McCann for People Before Profit was the big story in Foyle.
SDLP leader Colum Eastwood and the party's former Environment Minister Mark H Durkan were returned to Stormont, but their running mate Gerard Diver lost his seat.
Sinn Fein had targeted Foyle for a third seat, with Martin McGuinness moving to the constituency from Mid Ulster.
But the tactic did not work and Maeve McLaughlin failed to join McGuinness and Raymond McCartney in being elected.
It was also a case of "as you were" for the DUP with the election of Gary Middleton.
