NI election: DUP and Sinn Fein neck-and-neck in first preference votes [results breakdown]

Fewer than 1,200 first preference votes separated the DUP and Sinn Fein in the election.

The DUP got 225,413 votes - 28.1% of the vote down 1.1% on last year. While Sinn Fein polled 224,245 votes up 3.9% to 27.9%.

The UUP were next with 103,314 votes, representing 12.9% a marginal increase of 0.3%.

The SDLP polled 95,958, 11.9% of the vote, a drop of 0.1%

Alliance enjoyed a 2.1% increase to 9.1% of the vote with 72,717 votes.

Other parties

TUV: 20,523, 2.6% share down 0.9%

Green: 18,527, 2.3% share down 0.4%

People before Profit: 14,100, 1.8% share, down 0.2%

Independents: 14,407, 1.8% share, down 4.5%

PUP: 5,590, 0.7%, down 0.2%

Conservatives: 2,399, 0.3% down 0.1%

Others: 6,122, 0.8% down 1.6%
