NI Election: Strangford - Jonathan Bell eliminated
Suspended DUP member Jonathan Bell, who ran as an independent, has become the first shock casualty in Strangford after he was eliminated in the seventh stage of counting.
Prior to the election he said that the people of Strangford would deliver their verdict on his political career and his sensational television interview which helped trigger the snap election.
On Friday that verdict was revealed and it was not the one he had been hoping for.
Mr Bell received 1,479 first preference votes but had only managed to rack up a total of 1,794 during the next 6 stages before being eliminated.
