TUV leader Allister slams the DUP over its 'scare tactics'
The DUP has come under fire over its warning that a relatively minor vote shift could result in Martin McGuinness becoming First Minister.
TUV leader Jim Allister said: "The dishonesty of the 'Keep Arlene First Minister' pitch is staggering. The DUP's partner in government, McGuinness, is already joint First Minister."
He said the DUP could make it clear it won't nominate a Deputy First Minister if Mr McGuinness became First Minister.
"McGuinness could only be First Minister if the DUP nominates a deputy," he added.
"That is the law. The fact the DUP won't make this pledge demonstrates their scaremongering is designed solely to obtain votes by duress."
