£250 fine after bare-chested fight outside nightclub
A man has been fined £250 for disorderly behaviour after he was involved in a bare-chested punch-up during clashes between “rival factions from Belfast” who travelled in separate buses to a north coast night club.
John Letson (28) of Dunraven Park, Belfast, was not present at Coleraine Magistrate’s Court where a defence lawyer said her client was pleading guilty to being disorderly in the car park of Kelly's nightclub in Portrush on July 31 last year.
The defence lawyer claimed Letson was acting in self-defence after being attacked by another man.
Referring to being bare-chested, District Judge Richard Wilson wanted to know if Letson had been “impersonating Tarzan” during the altercation, but the defence lawyer said her client had his shirt ripped off him by another man.
The defence lawyer said the man assaulted by Letson did not wish to make a complaint about assault and District Judge Wilson said that it appeared as if there had been “a bit of give and take” during the incident.
