£276k upgrade for Mountpottinger Road in east Belfast to begin
Work on a £276,000 investment to improve a key route in east Belfast begins on Monday.
Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that road improvements on the Mountpottinger Road should be completed by March 14.
The scheme will include resurfacing and the installation of a new puffin crossing.
"This is a very significant investment," he said. "The work will greatly improve the road and the adjoining footways.
"This, together with the new puffin crossing, brings benefits for all road users and pedestrians in the area."
The work will initially be undertaken using localised lane closures. However, from Monday, February 17 a one-way lane closure will be in place each weekday until Friday, March 14.
During this time traffic will not be allowed to travel from Albertbridge Road to Mountpottinger Link. Clearly signposted diversions will be in place via Mountpottinger Link, Short Strand and Albertbridge Road.
