400 Newtownabbey jobs in Capita expansion

Four hundred new IT jobs are to be created in Newtownabbey over the next three years.

The highly paid positions are the result of a £30 million investment at Capita.

Capita Managed IT Solutions was formed last year when Capita acquired Northgate Managed Services.

Invest Northern Ireland has offered £4 million of support for the new jobs, which will bring total employment at the Newtownabbey site to 945.

Ed Brown, managing director at Capita, said: "The business is seeking to grow its customer base, expand its service range and significantly increase its service delivery capabilities in Northern Ireland. This investment is part of our strategy for achieving these objectives.

"Given the opportunities in the marketplace and the quality of services and people already in place, we believe that we can reach our growth targets."

Stormont enterprise minister Arlene Foster said: "An investment of this scale will deliver significant benefits, not just for the company and for the ICT sector, but for the economy as a whole."
