£750 fine for south Belfast food safety lapses
A former supermarket operator has been fined a total of £750 for a number of food safety breaches, including selling out of date food.
Convenience Stores (NI) Ltd of south Belfast was also ordered to pay court costs of £66 in relation to hygiene offences at the Mace store on the Lisburn Road.
The prosecution was taken by Belfast City Council who followed up a complaint from a customer that they had been sold a chicken wrap that was six days past its use by date.
The owner was also fined for placing unsafe food on sale.
The court heard yesterday the premises had changed hands last October and that standards had improved significantly.
