A local bride-to-be is set to add some fizz to special events across Northern Ireland with the launch of our first mobile Bubbly Bar.

Antrim woman Alex Megarry wanted a champagne bar for her own wedding next month and when she couldn't find one she decided to build her own.

The 27-year-old has just launched her classy bubbles-on-wheels-mobile, and has already been inundated with requests and bookings - with one already secured for 2019.

Alex who enjoys a glass of Prosecco with her friends has been overwhelmed by just how many of us love to guzzle a glass of bubbly.

She said: "I have just launched the bar through social media and I am astonished by the response.

"Yesterday alone I had around 200 messages on Facebook. I've just done my first birthday party and booked my first wedding for later this month and even took a booking for a wedding in 2019. I've had inquires for corporate events and hen parties, it's amazing. It just shows there is a real craze for Prosecco at the minute."

Alex first saw a mobile champagne bar while at an event in England last year and decided she would like to hire one for her own wedding on November 5 to Limavady farmer Gareth Irwin.

When she couldn't find one she had the idea of opening her own.

She says: "I was thinking of doing something on my own. I am marrying a farmer which means I will be moving to Limavady as he can't move to me and it has also meant that I will have to leave my job as communications manager with Phoenix Gas.

"I wanted to create something of my own and when I saw the champagne bar in England last year I thought it was a great idea. I looked for one at home for my own wedding and there isn't any so I just thought why no set about making my own. I was a bit nervous about setting up a business but it has been so hectic that I haven't had time to be nervous, it has been mad."

Alex's bespoke built 'Bubbly Bar' designed in high gloss black and copper can be taken to any venue where the customer supplies the Prosecco and she serves it up. She also offers a "Pimp Your Prosecco" service where she will mix a range of her own fizzy cocktails.
