Aaron Hughes' Euro 2016 Northern Ireland 'dare to dream' billboard vandalised in Cookstown

A billboard of Northern Ireland player Aaron Hughes to celebrate the team's Euro 2016 qualification has been vandalised in Cookstown.

Giant billboards featuring the Northern Ireland football squad and manager Michael O'Neill are up across the country ahead of the summer's European Championship adventure.

However, vandals attacked the billboard at Fountain Road in Cookstown.

Ulster Unionist councillor Trevor Wilson branded it a "disgrace".

He told the Mid Ulster Mail: “This is a person who has put Northern Ireland on the map for the all the right reasons and it’s a complete disgrace.

“I want to strongly condemn this vandalism. Stuart along with Aaron Hughes are ambassadors for Northern Ireland and Cookstown."

Northern Ireland began their journey on Monday as they jetted off to Austria for a pre-Euro 2016 training camp.

There was a green and white guard of honour as the plane took off.
