Accused ‘drove drunk past children’
AN alleged serial car thief drunkenly drove a stolen vehicle at high speed past children being picked up from school, the High Court has heard.
A jogger also had to dive to safety when an Audi A4 driven by Hugh Walsh mounted a pavement in Dunmurry, Belfast, prosecutors claimed.
Walsh (34) is accused of stealing the car and a laptop computer |during a break-in at a woman's home in Ballycastle, Co Antrim, |last month.
He faces charges of burglary |and theft from a dwelling, driving while unfit, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and aggravated vehicle taking. Walsh, of Stroanshesk Park, Ballycastle, has also been charged in connection with the seizure of a Ford Focus in Belfast in January and a Vauxhall Astra in Lurgan last September.
