Accused in court over stabbing of woman (26)
A man has appeared in court after a young mother was stabbed and left in a critical condition.
Stephen David John McFarlane (33) appeared in the dock of Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday. McFarlane, from Glenville Park, Newtownabbey, spoke only to confirm that he understood the 10 charges against him.
They include attempting to murder Natasha Lowry (26), breaking into her Ashgrove Road home in Newtownabbey "with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm", and breaching a non-molestation order on January 13.
McFarlane is further charged that the next day he stole two sets of number plates and made off without paying for £40 of fuel.
He was also charged with driving dangerously on Doagh Road in Newtownabbey and failing to stop, remain or report an accident where damage was caused.
District Judge Bernie Kelly remanded McFarlane into custody to appear again on February 19 via video-link. Ms Lowry is now believed to be stable.
