Advice for travellers to region

If you are scheduled to fly out to Tunisia you should immediately contact your tour operator.

They may be able to move your booking elsewhere - to a different hotel or a different resort. However, they are not obliged to do so. There are no direct flights from Northern Ireland to Tunisia.

If you cancel your holiday, you will lose any money you have paid - and your holiday insurance will not cover the loss. If the UK government changes its threat level assessment for Tunisia from green to red, then all tour operators will have to cancel all bookings at once and bring all holidaymakers home, and refund everyone - but that has not yet happened.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) hotline is +44 (0)207 008 000.

The FCO is advising against all but essential travel to some areas of Tunisia mainly on its borders with Libya and Algeria. These areas are listed on its website at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/tunisia.

The Republic of Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs has set up a hotline on 01 418 0200.
